UH Art of Recycling Contest

Become the next great sculptor at the third annual Art of Recycling Contest. Use soda cans, milk jugs, poster board, newspaper and more to create a masterpiece out of recyclable materials. The contest will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the World Affairs Lounge in the UC underground. All UH students are encouraged to participate in the contest.

Green UH will provide all of the previously used materials and hot glue, scissors, string and Velcro to keep your creation intact. The three best creations will receive gift cards from Best Buy. The first place winner will receive a $75 gift card, second will win a $50 gift card, and third will win a $25 gift card.

Art made from previous years’ contests will be displayed to motivate and inspire students. This contest promotes the importance of recycling, reusing and repurposing materials, art appreciation, and the ongoing RecycleMania competition. The art will be judged from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the M.D. Anderson Library’s lobby. Students entering the library will choose their favorite works of art, meaning the winners will be decided by their peers. Andrew Thai, last year’s winner, created a New Year’s Eve ball out of beer cans, plastic cups, a coke bottle and a foil to-go container.

Express yourself and show your exceptional artistic abilities at the Art of Recycling contest! See you there! Learn more about RecycleMania, the campus-wide Recycling Contest, and the events associated with the competition.
