UH Recycling Contest Results

Green UH hosted the third-annual campus-wide recycling contest on campus from Feb. 7 to April 1. The amount of recycling collected from teams was used toward UH’s overall recycling data sent to RecycleMania—the national recycling competition. More teams competed this year than any other year, and we recycled the highest amount of material ever! Thirty teams competed in the UH recycling contest this year, compared with ten competing teams last year, and we recycled 35,975 pounds this year compared to 23,066.19 pounds in 2010!

The top three faculty/staff teams and student teams won credits for UH Catering Services. The UC Ultimate Recyclers placed first in the faculty/staff division of the recycling contest and recycled 6,158 pounds. They won a $150 credit for UH Catering Services and a trophy. Admissions Processing placed second in the faculty/staff category, winning $100 toward Catering Services and a certificate of Admissions Processing recycled 3,936 pounds of material.

Green DOR placed third in the faculty/staff category, won a $50 credit toward Catering Services and a certificate of achievement. They recycled a total of 3,535 pounds of material.

HRM Green Team placed first in the student division of the recycling contest and recycled 7,391 pounds—more than any other team in both categories. They won a $150 credit for UH Catering Services and a trophy. The Accounting Society won second place in the student category, winning $100 toward Catering Services and a certificate of achievement. They recycled a total of 3,985 pounds of material. Psi Chi placed third in the student category, won a $50 credit toward Catering Services and a certificate of achievement. They recycled 2,283 pounds of material.
